Exercise and Fitness
Regular physical activity is one of the best things you can do for your health.
Exercise lowers the risk of heart disease and diabetes. On top of this, it improves your mental health and general wellbeing. Physical activity will help you lose weight if you're overweight; generally the more you do, the more you will lose. Combining increased exercise with a healthy diet will be even more effective in weight loss.
Exercise has been proven to ease stress and anxiety that may come with studying, boost energy, increase brainpower and improve self-esteem.
There are lots of free activities to do such as running or walking briskly. Walking to university or college every day will increase your fitness greatly (especially if carrying a large pile of books!)
Societies and extra-curricular activities at university or college offer a range of sports to get involved with, many you may not have even heard of before such as octopush (underwater hockey). Team games feel less like fitness and more like fun so are a good way to lose weight without realising it!
